Comeback?

More WCAW news (ironically, Scott Miller of CBS Sportsline has the same story....)

LAS VEGAS -- Scott Erickson, who essentially has not pitched a full major-league season since 2002 and mostly has been out of baseball since 2005, is making noises about a comeback.
Erickson, 40, has contacted the Minnesota Twins about coming to spring training in 2009 and apparently was met with a tepid response.
"He wants to come back," Twins GM Bill Smith told CBSSports.com. "I told him to go get a job in winter ball and let's see what you can do."
Erickson, who was 142-136 with a 4.59 ERA over 15 big-league seasons, so far is not pitching winter ball.
Following a run between 1991 and 1999 in which he threw 200 or more innings seven times, Erickson developed elbow trouble in 2000 that eventually led to Tommy John ligament replacement surgery.

More Young

WCAW, with their own under cover reporter at MLB's Winter GM meetings has this (which, coincidentally, Jayson Stark of ESPN also has in his blog):

Another Rays note: Yes, they kicked Delmon Young's name around when the Twins approached them to express interest. But according to one source who talked to the Rays' brass, they would "never" take Young back.

Puck

We don't dive into puck very often, but when we do here at WCAW, we do it with full force.
The Wild drop 2 this weekend to go from 1st to 3rd place, and to top it off, Gabby's situation is going to blow apart the team unless they resolve it soon.

Lions

I absolutely love this quote by the Lions Head Coach, Rod Marinelli....
If the Crows are ever in this position, I hope someone drops this line as well:

Asked about being 0-10, Detroit coach Rod Marinelli snapped to a reporter at a news conference, "I am not 0-10; you are 0-10." Maybe you've got to be in serious denial to work for the Lions. Overall, Marinelli is 10-32 as a head coach. Sorry, you are 10-32 as a head coach.

500 (sort of)

Zogg stole my thunder with the EA Sports post, which somehow jumped the post count from 498 to 500. I might have made a misstatement (Thank you Michelle Bachman). Whatever, who said Crows know how to count, they know how to play ball and how to Cawwww..

I was going to do a huge HFA post celebrating the 500th post, but figured it should be something softball related since that is what got this whole blog going. I could post little facts about each Crow, but I will leave that to Carney, as he seems to do that best.

Anyway, thanks to everyone who has contributed to the posts, and especially the commenter's. It has made it all worthwhile.

Garza - LCS MVP

I believe I bet a certain member of the Crows that the Twins would regret trading Garza, and that Garza would be the World Series MVP....Well, he''s got the LCS MVP under his belt.
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs2008/news/story?id=3652897
If the Ray's don't sweep the Series, he could possibly get the Series MVP as well.
He had his fastball dancing, and the hook dropping from the sky. The Twins sure couldn't use his power arm. Much rather have that monster production in left field.

You and I, Lapanta

This Tuesday, at Crows Field (Sandcreek), Coach Nolan will lead his underdog 8th grade Coon Rapids white Cardinals to face the perennial powerhouse, the undefeated Mounds View Raiders. The Mounds View team has rolled through the competition this season lead by head coach, FSN norths own, Anthony Lapanta, including an impressive 6-0 win over a dominate Brooklyn Park team who hung 46 points on the Cardinals. To add another twist to plot, Head Coach Jeff Zimmel will be missing the game due to his son, Jarrod Zimmel and the Varsity Cardinals, begin there quest for a prep bowl championship against the hapless St Francis Saints. So Coach Nolan will stray from his normal defensive coordinator position and take over the play calling for the offense. "I have been scouting that hair piece, public access announcing, sissy on Gophers Live all weekend long, and we are going to get those North Oaks punks and their matching golf shirts." Coach Nolan told ESPNs Erin Andrews in an "exclusive" interview.

Found this on espn.com, bill simmons...
Pretty much sums up Troy Williamson The Sequel.

Falcons (+7) over PACKERS
These teams aren't as far apart as you might think. Even last week, during a seemingly predestined defeat in Carolina, the Falcons would have been right there if their receivers hadn't had a case of the dropsies. Which reminds me, here's my Dropsies All-Star Team through four weeks: Bernard Berrian and Andre Johnson (starting WRs); Daniel Graham (starting TE); everyone on Atlanta and Tennessee (backups); Ben Watson (injured reserve); and every fullback. Berrian has to be the MVP. I'd love to see a game show where he tries to catch various things -- keys, babies, Jell-O, pop flies, knives, you name it. If you're ever holding a baby and leaning out of a burning building and Bernard Berrian says, "Throw the baby, throw it to me," I implore you to explore other alternatives.

One more time, Crows.

There is the story about the three chinamen playing Fantan and this guy runs up to them and says, "Hey, the world's coming to an end" and the first one says,"Well, I best go to the mission and pray," and the second one says, "Well, hell, I'm gonna go and buy me a case of Mezcal and six whores," and the third chinamen says "Well, I'm gonna sit right here and finish the game." I shall finish the game, WE will finish the game Crows, one more step, one more night, one more championship. Fellas, we have a chance to put together the most decorated season in Crows franchise history, with the summer championship, 2nd place in Zimmerman, the fall regular season championship, and now the fall Play-offs. The beauty of it Crows, is we don't have to change a thing, we are easily the most intelligent, talented, hungry, team in this league, just do what we do and put WE before me, and stay loose, and make sure we are all at the ball park ready to play Crow ball. As you already no this is the last week of the 2008 season so let's end it on a championship note. This city needs a "pick-up" after the Twins let down and a Crows championship would do it! Let's ring that championship bell one more time, "DING MOTHER F*&#ing DONG!"

How do you like us now, Arkansas?

Coon Rapids 25

Andover 19

WCAW REPORTING

In a night where Coon Rapids honored its alumni by bringing back members of the 1983 Prep Bowl state champion team the Cardinals hosted the untested Andover Huskies. Andover, who as two cupcake victories over Centenial and Park Center, was facing a Cardinal team, who has already defeated Champlin Park and been through the Blaine and Anoka wars. The Cardinals over came an early 12-0 defisit to go into half tied at 12's. A big touchdown scored by former Nolan coached tight end Jerrod Zimmel. The Cardinals Even Lowe would plunge in from the 1 yard line with less than 1 1/2 remaining icing the victory for the superior team from Coon Rapids, despite the termendous play of Andover QB, Wes Satzinger who proved he is more then a formidable opponent.

"Hot Female Athlete of an Undetermined Time Frame"

Go Broncos?!
Coach Nolan, when are the Crows going to get Cheerleaders?

QB woes gone?

Breaking news from WCAW.....

Who'd of thunk...I didn't think Childress had the Gus to do this......(get it!) 14-2 here we come!

The Minnesota Vikings, with an 0-2 start to the season, are turning to veteran Gus Frerotte to bring them out of the hole.

No coach had more faith in his quarterback than coach Brad Childress had in Tarvaris Jackson, who has had 14 career starts. But Childress named Frerotte the starter for the remainder of the season, announcing the decision at his Wednesday media availability.

Jackson was 8-4 as a starter last season, even though he completed only 58.2 percent of his passes and had a 70.8 quarterback rating.

This season started even slower for Jackson. He completed only 30 of 59 passes for 308 yards in two games, in an offense that is ranked 24th in the league in passing despite a strong running game from Adrian Peterson.

Jackson has been playing with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his knee, an injury that forced him at times to wear a brace. Vikings fans booed him throughout Sunday's 18-15 loss to the Indianapolis Colts when the Vikings, despite a 160-yard rushing day by Peterson, had to settle for five field goals.

Frerotte loves the Crows, and will be cheering for them on Thursday as they attempt to clinch a regular season championship for Coach Nolan.

With a tough home game coming up against the Carolina Panthers, Childress decided to go with the strong-armed Frerotte. The 37-year-old Frerotte is in his 15th season, and spent the past two seasons as a backup in St. Louis.

Frerotte has been with seven teams, but this is his second tour with the Vikings, having spent 2004 and 2005 in Minnesota.

Frerotte has completed 54.2 percent of his passes during his career for 19,134 yards and a 74.3 quarterback rating. He's 37-44-1 as a starter.

It's time

Ever the eternal optimist when it comes to this team, I think the Twins shot their wad last night. They are officially done. Last night's game was a make or break for the team. If they win coming all the way back from 8-1, it's a spring board for the stretch run and they get into the playoffs. Instead, after working so hard to make it 9-8, Gardy's first choice out of the bullpen is Every Day Eddie. Are you effing kidding me?!?!?! The guy has done nothing but give up runs since coming to the Twins, and you're going to deflate the whole team by bringing him in?!?!?!
Now, in true Twins fashion, we'll end up sweeping the ChiSox in the dome, but it won't matter because we will be 5 games out when they come to town. Oh well, it's been a nice run.

Looking to the future, this is always good:

Stat

Interesting stat from Stark's column today...
Especially interesting is Morneau's numbers:

Stat of the week
Here's our latest brainstorm for illustrating how RBIs are overrated -- a new stat concoction we're calling Runs NOT Batted In (RNBI).
To compute it, you start with number of runners on base when a hitter bats, subtract the number of those runners knocked in and compute how many of those runners each hitter didn't drive in.
The leaderboard, through Aug. 26 (data from baseballprospectus.com):
HITTER RUNNERS DRIVEN IN RNBI
Garrett Atkins 434 64 370
Justin Morneau 439 82 357
Troy Glaus 415 63 352
David Wright 423 75 348

Crows to call up Minor league Memphis Magpie?

WCAW radio is reporting that general manager Jason Herzog and head coach Billy Nolan were seen on biel street in Memphis, Tennessee apparently having a meeting at an undisclosed location discussing a possible late August call up from the CRs sportsbars Crows AAA affiliate, the Memphis Magpies. "We hope to bring up a player from Memphis on a game by game contract in hopes of bolstering our line-up for the fall run." skipper Billy Nolan told reporters. Neither Herzog or Nolan would comment any further on who the player may be so it is all speculation at this point. "We have nothing further to comment on until something is finalized." Herzog added.

PHAZE THREE!!!!!!!!

Good day Crow Nation. Phaze three of our 2008 campaign begins today. Phaze one was the summer championship, phaze two was not a Zimmerman championship but definitely a respectable showing, and Phase three starts with the pursuit of a fall championship. The "ney sayers" say that because the Crows have never had a summer playoff and a fall regular season and playoff championship in the same season that it cannot happen, I say F*&% the "ney sayers" the success this them has experienced over the last two months says it will happen. Remember Crows, success is when countless hours of training meet up with one moment of opportunity and you cash in, play your best when it counts. I say every Crow carries an index card with them this fall and writes on it the following saying. What did I do today to make myself a better player? Did you take extra swings, eat healthy, take extra groundballs or throw a tennis ball off the wall 300 times? Get to bed early, lift. Do some vision training. Watch an MLB game on TV and guess the managers or base runners next move. Anything you do to give you the edge is helping you achieve this teams goals. If you go to bed with out doing something you are cheating yourself and missing out on the day that could make a difference. In closing Crows, lets approach this fall season the same way we did the playoff run, play within yourself and put the team first, and Don't Think ... REACT. And remember attitude isn't everything, it's the ONLY thing! Don't be the guy that gets in the way of achieving your and the teams dreams. Don't forget Crows, reward doesn't come at the end of your journey, but rather, with little milestones throughout your journey, when you look back on your little accomplishments they make one great BIG one. CAWWW CAWWW CAWWW!!!!!!!!

Crows rookie suspended!

D.J. Brockman, the front runner for Crows rookie of the year and a seemingly unhappy member of the Nolan ran team, was suspended for the opening game of the fall season today by the Crows organization.
In a statement issued in Coon Rapids, the Crows said that Brockman had been suspended without pay for one game and fined Beer detail for the second game "for insubordination and conduct detrimental" to the team. His public attacks on Head Coach Nolan through the blog and private attacks through e-mails are reported as being "the straw that broke the camels back."
"He has now begun to spread blatant lies about my conduct up at headquarters," said Coach Billy Nolan, who told reporters in Coon Rapids today that he had imposed the suspension. "It is a coach-player deal and I believe it's the right thing to do for this team.
"I don't have a ton of rules. The important thing to me is morale and (D.J.) has been hard on it lately. I said I expected to see him august 21st for the second game ready to play." Nolan took over as coach earlier this season after Jason Herzog was fired. The Crows, with a record of 18-8, and the playoff championship and a second place Zimmerman finish have been playing excellent ball before this couple week lay-off.
The news of the suspension will probably not greatly affect the way Coach Nolan or the Crows approach Thursdays games, as they have a fairly full fall roster, but it did cause quite a stir.

what's this?

Remember yesterday, Joe Gaetti, the son of former Twin Gary, started for the New Britain Rockcats. In his first at bat, he hit a long home run. Great story, right? Well, as he was rounding first base, his Achilles tore, so he is likely out for the season. Really unfortunate news!

Twins

Lifted from Gleeman:

Lost in the back-to-back ugly games from the pitching staff is that the lineup churned out 20 runs in three games against the Mariners. Since scoring just 3.8 runs per game in April to rank as the league's second-worst offense, the Twins have averaged 5.5 runs in May, 5.1 runs in June, 5.5 runs in July, and 5.2 runs so far in August. Here are the individual hitting numbers for players who've batted at least 100 times since May 1 (sorted by OPS):
PA AVG OBP SLG OPS
Justin Morneau 378 .328 .405 .532 .937
Denard Span 129 .318 .411 .505 .916
Joe Mauer 327 .324 .425 .471 .896
Jason Kubel 253 .282 .360 .518 .878
Nick Punto 131 .291 .341 .470 .811
Alexi Casilla 273 .313 .351 .424 .775
Delmon Young 326 .300 .347 .417 .764
Brian Buscher 126 .308 .333 .419 .752
Brendan Harris 294 .258 .315 .390 .705
Michael Cuddyer 219 .244 .320 .371 .691
Craig Monroe 129 .181 .264 .397 .661
Mike Lamb 165 .253 .291 .353 .644
Carlos Gomez 347 .257 .296 .346 .642

Seeing that type of production from Justin Morneau and Joe Mauer should come as no surprise and Span has rightfully received a ton of credit for his emergence over the past month, but Jason Kubel has sort of flown under the radar. Or at least he did until going 4-for-5 with a pair of homers and a double Tuesday night. Together they've given the Twins four hitters with an OPS between .878 and .937, which goes a long way toward explaining the lineup's extended breakout.Since May 1 there are 15 hitters in the AL who've posted an OPS above .875 while coming to the plate at least 250 times, and the Twins have three of them batting 3-4-5 in the lineup behind a rookie with a .400 on-base percentage who keeps proving me wrong by showing no signs of slowing down. Hell, even Nick Punto is back to hitting like it's 2006 again and Michael Cuddyer is finally nearing a return. Between the strong lineup and shaky bullpen, this definitely isn't your older brother's Twins team.

That's Two.

That was a horrible game last night (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=280805112)...especially after following the horrible game from the night before.
On the plus side, Kube's had 2 HR's. Sad that him and Morneau are the only ones on the team that can be counted on for any sort of power.

CRNLL Doing It Again

Direct from Assistant Coach Dan Goedderz to Jeff Hackel CRNLL is pursuing the Little League World Series again this year. The Squad is playing in Indianapolis hopefully on its way to the show and defeated a squad from Nebraska 3-2 thanks in part to a 6th inning homer by Jake Goedderz. Next game they face Missouri. Whats in that water over by riverview? Simply goes to show that sports does not recognize economics but it does reward hard work, skill, and dedication. If I had a youngster and a little bit more money I would definitely be buying a house over there. Kudos to the kids and all the coaches at Riverview.

Manny Ramirez is.....

A Dodger!?!?!?!?

WCAW reporting - from sources close to both camps. Red Sox get Jason Bay.

Twins meanwhile do NOTHING, like usual - therefore eliminating them from any post season possibilities.

Maybe one of these years they will try to make a run? Deal Bonser, Hernandez, Cuddyer - go get Beltre.....it cannot be that hard.

At LEAST go get some decent 2B to help with Casilla being out.

But of course - nothing, just ride with what you have - and don't try to get a big power hitting 3B. Hell - go get Konerko - SOMEBODY for the middle of that lineup.

Frustrating.

THE POWER OF THE STACHE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to say congratulations to the 2008 champion, Crows. It was an absolute honor and privilege to manage you throughout this championship run and you all made me so proud. You all did exactly what I said in my pregame speeches per batum. You all played within yourselves, you put the team first, and when the games were on the line everyone one of you came through and put out your best, and did it with smiles on your faces, totally awesome! From Grand slams to diving stabs in the field. The Crow Nation is a proud nation today! The Demons of yester are gone, the King of the mountain is back on top! Everything went exactly as planned, from the sweet looking mustaches to the celebritory fireworks after the deal was sealed. How often in life do things go as planned? for me not often, last night however, it did, enjoy it boys we earned it. How many more times in life are our buddies going to come together and be the best as a unit and win a championship? (probably 30). Savor it fellas, you have earned the right to call yourselves champions. I will allow the mustaches to be shaven, as I am sure most of you already have, but remember that was only 1/3 of what we want to accomplish. There is Zimmerman this weekend and a fall ball championship to win, so take this next couple of days to celebrate this great accomplishment with friends and family, then this weekend it's back to work. WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!! CAWWW CAWWW CAWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Champions

PLAYOFF NIGHT!!!!!

Good day Crow nation. Tonight is the night we rid ourselves of past demons. Tonight is the night we shine. Tonight is the night we ring that championship bell, DING MOTHER F#@$*&% DONG! Now for those of you who question why I have not sent out a "raw, raw" pep talk today; it is because on playoff days I feel it is completely counterproductive to give a rousing pep talk before the game. There are no big games, as you are not playing the other team but the ball and the ball doesn't know it is a big game. I feel that coaching Softball is different, then let's say Football, I have the fear in Softball of coming to amped up and if we try to play harder we will get out of rhythm and perform worse which is why I said yesterday we must play within ourselves and put the team first. Now, I would like to see EVERYONE at headquarters by 5:45 for a quick pregame meeting, then off too ANOKA for a championship run. Remember three things: Mustaches, plenty of water, and the "PUCK!".

Coaches corner- The Playoffs!!

Good day Crow Nation. This is a Huge week for our ball club, League playoffs followed by the Zimmerman tourney. I said when I toke this position that the collapse of last season and the slide of this one will continue to be with the team until we win a championship and WE WILL bring another championship back to the Crow nation, well, now it's TIME, Time to ring that championship bell , DING F%&*#@# DONG. I also said Playing hard is not about hitting hard or running with speed. Its about when the game is on the line and you play with everything you go. You play your very best. Remember this Crows, play within ourselves, do our jobs, and put the "TEAM" first. A few years ago this organization paid tribute to the late Kirby Puckett by wearing the #34 on their chest, let us again remember "Puck", lets play fundamentally sound ball and let's play it well and with a smile on our faces, God bless Kirby, lets represent him once again when we take the field this week. In closing, Crows, take it easy the next couple days, make sure we show up to our first game strong and focused. A wise man once told me "If you expect to soar with the eagles during the day, you can't hoot with the owls at night." So let's take this, not one game at a time, not even one inning at a time, let's take this one at bat, one fly ball, one line drive, or even one pitch at a time. We will show this country what Crow ball in all about. DON'T FORGET YOUR PLAYOFF MUSTACHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Game #22 Recap

Game 22 recap

Crows 16

Bounty Hunter 15

Game two of the doubleheader between the Crows (13-8) and the Bounty Hunters (6-15) started the same way as the first game of the tilt, with the Crows jumping out to a 12-5 lead early and it looked like "Class of" Jay Kelly (2-3 R RBI 2B) was going to sail to another complete game win. However, the usually reliable Crows defense came apart in the later innings and Americas team found themselves trailing by 2 runs in the bottom half of the last inning. With the bottom half of the order up the Crows needed a huge spark, and they got it from "Throwback" Jack Hoffman (3-3 3R RBI 2-2B) who hit a huge double scoring his brother Joe "Pipp" Hoffman. Then the greatest lead-off hitter in Crows history, Bernie "Sugar Bear" Knox (4-4 3R 4RBI 2B HR) came to plate and hit a solid single scoring "Throwback" Jack Hoffman and putting the tying run on first with Jason "Zog" Herzog(2-4 R RBI 2B) up in a clutch spot and he delivered a game winning double scoreing "Sugar Bear" giving the Crows the sweep they needed. Other offensive stars were Kyle "Duche" Christansen (2-3 R 2RBI HR) and Kevin "ESPY" Esprum (2-3 R RBI 2B) who had is consecutive hit streak snapped at 12.On a side note, Bobber down swept Stiff bats, giving the Crows sole possession of second place going into the playoffs.

Game Ball- Bernie Knox 4-4 3R 4RBI 2B HR

Honorable mention- Jack Hoffman 3-3 3R RBI 2-2B

Nancys- Jason Herzog, D.J. Brockman, Kyle Christansen, Joe Hoffman(2), Keith Gunnerius

Game #21 Recap

Game #21

Crows 22

Bounty Hunters 6

The Crows came into week #12 trialing Stiff bats by 1 game for second place in the league and it was the last week of the regular season. The Crows (12-8) would face the Bounty Hunters (6-14) and need a sweep coupled with the Bruce Theory lead Bobber down squad doing the same to Stiff Bats to retake back sole possession of second place. The Crows, coming off a bye week, came out with guns a blazing, putting up a 12 spot in the top of the first, pretty much "Berrying" the youngsters early. "Class of" Jay Kelly was making his first start on the mound of the year, filling in for the absent Adam "Banny" Bancroft, and was in cruise control despite a very tough wind, it was as if he had hurled all season long, and he had a 2-2 2R RBI 2-BB at the plate. Other offensive stars for the rejuvenated Crows were "The Human Hitting Machine" Mark "Hegs" Jeglosky, who was 3-4 3R 4RBI 2B 3B HR ( a single shy of the third cycle for the Crows of the year), and rookie sensation D.J. "Brocko" Brockman, 3-3 3R RBI BB. A couple of "boxing brothers" also were on fire as Joe "Pipp" Hoffman added 4 RBIs and making his 2008 debut, "Throwback" Jack Hoffman went 2-3 2R 2RBI. Entering the game, Kevin "ESPY" Esprum had a string of seven consecutive hits and kept it in tack going 3-3 2R RBI, bringing the streak to 10 straight hits. Jim "Bama" Sorenson continued to impress and earned yet another game ball going 4-4 3R 6RBI 2B 3B.

Kubes

From Sethspeaks...

Jason Kubel's OPS in June is well over 1.100. He has tied Justin Morneau for the team lead in home runs with 12. He has been incredible, and his batting average is working its way upward. I think one of the big keys for Kubel are his walks and strikeouts. Check this out. In April, he walked just three times and struck out 20 times. In May, he walked seven times and struck out 14 times. In June, he walked 14 times and struck out just ten times (with a game left to play). If you recall back in 2004 when he was making the big name for himself in the Twins minor league system, he was a high batting average, power hitter with more walks than strikeouts. That is the reason that I liked to call him a combination of Morneau. As has been repeated, he was statistically the Twins top hitter after May last year, and he is well on his way to being so again this year. But I would monitor his strikeouts and walks as a key indicator. (For reference, Joe Mauer has walked 41 times and struck out just 22 times)

Mayo

You just knew there was no way McHale wasn't getting his white boy...
This is from Simmons column today:

Right after I handed in this column, Chris Wallace and Kevin McHale hooked up for an eight-player mega deal that was the Atrocious GMs' version of the "Freddy vs. Jason" and "Alien vs. Predator" movies. Basically, Minnesota turned O.J. Mayo into Mike Miller and Kevin Love, Memphis took back bad more bad contracts than Minnesota, and Wallace cemented his reputation as the undisputed worst GM in basketball.
Needless to say, Mayo was probably a lot happier than he was at the 4:50 mark of this diary. Also, congrats to McHale for being the first GM to trade for three white guys in the same deal since Alex Hannum in 1965. And if you're scoring at home, I think McHale was Freddy and Wallace was Jason.

Game #20 Recap

CROWS 17

ATS SOFTBALL 6

The frustrated Crows (11-8) came into game two of week #10 looking to take it out on the ATS softball (6-12). The game started off the same way and it looked as if the hitting woes would continue. The Crows had not won the second game of the night since week #3. The bats finally woke up in the 3rd inning as the Crows began to resemble the Crows of the past, which is what they needed going into a bye week. "17 runs is nothing special, but its a start and the ship is pointed in the right direction" Coach Nolan told WCAWWW reporters after the game. Offensive stars for the revitalized Crows were plenty. Bernie "Sugar Bear" Knox showed why Coach Nolan said "If this is going to turn around, Sugar Bear needs to be in the line-up", going 3-4 2R RBI 2B. Jason "Zog" Herzog completed a perfect night with a 4-4 3R 2-2B performance, while Jim "Bama" Sorenson showed why Nolan put him in the clean up spot for this game going 3-4 R 3RBI 2B HR. In the last inning rookie sensation D.J. "Brocko" Brockman sat down on a pitch and hit what may have been the hardest hit ball all season driving it over the left field wall, "That thing didn't get more than eight feet from the ground" one bystander was quoted as saying. Jay "Class of" Kelly continued his late season tear going 3-4 with 3 runs scored but taking the game ball and hitting for the second Crows cycle of the year was Kevin "ESPY" Esprum.

GAME BALL- KEVIN ESPRUM 4-4 3R 3RBI 2B 3B HR (Cycle)

NANCYS- Jim Sorenson, Joe Hofffman, Adam Bancroft, Kyle Christanson, D.J. Brockman, Billy Nolan(2).

Game #19 Recap

CROWS 7

STIFF BATS 9

Game 19 had the two teams tied for second place in league facing each other in a head to head match-up. The Crows(11-7) facing Stiff Bats (11-7). The Crows, playing their first game in 2008 under new Coach William Nolan, were hoping to shake the hitting slump that has plagued them over the last 6 weeks. The Crows had a new coach, a new "Nancy" award (the pink cowboy hat), and a slightly different line-up but got the same result, as they just could not string any hits together. "It F*&^%$#@ looks like it will have to F*&^%$# get worse before it F#$%^&* gets better" Coach Nolan told WCAWWW reporters in a tirade after the game. There may have been an Oman in the first inning when the Crows most consistent hitter, "The Human Hitting machine" Mark "Hegs" Jeglosky stepped to plate with 1 out, and Jason "Zog" Herzog on first base. "Hegs" laced one up the middle, off the pitchers glove and right to the second basemen who stepped on two and threw to one completing the double play, thus making "Hegs" the first to have to sport the new Pink cowboy for the first inning. Offensive stars for the struggling Crows were Bernie "Sugar Bear" Knox who had a homerun and 4 RBIs and Kevin "Espy" Esprum, who was 3-3 with a run scored. D.J. "Brocko" brockmen continued to run away with the rookie of the year race with 2-3 performance. But grabbing his first game ball of the year and making Coach Nolan look like a genius for moving him up to the two spot in the batting order was Jason "Zog" Herzog who had a perfect 3-3 night and a stellar defensive performance at shortstop, filling in for the rehabbing "Arkansas" Dave Sorenson.

GAME BALL- Jasn Herzog 3-3 R BB

Nancys- Mark Jegolosky(2), Adam Bancroft(2), Kyle Christenson, Jay Kelly, Billy Nolan.
