Newest Twin

CAWWW.BLOGSPOT, your spot for all the hot news, is happy to report on the newest member of the Minnesota Twins....

Aaron Hicks, OF/RHP from a random High School in California.

The Twins passed on Brent Lawrie, the Canadian. Now who is Morneau supposed to play knee hockey with in the clubhouse?!?!?!?!

Of course the Brewers noticed this error and grabbed the BC native in a futile attempt to lure Morneau away from the Twins..

1st round picks

A little interesting note on Gleeman today regarding DYoung

Delmon Young and Billy Butler are both 22-year-old former first-round picks who ranked among the elite prospects in baseball heading into last season. Both players have shown little power this year, but their teams have handled them much differently. Butler homered just once through 53 games and last week the Royals sent him back to Triple-A. Young has yet to homer in 56 games, but continues to play nearly every day and has no chance of being demoted. Take a look at their respective stats:

THIS SEASON G AVG OBP SLG OPS IsoP K/BB

Billy Butler 53 .263 .330 .339 .669 .076 1.37

Delmon Young 56 .273 .329 .356 .685 .083 2.12

CAREER G AVG OBP SLG OPS IsoP K/BB

Billy Butler 145 .282 .341 .408 .749 .126 1.76

Delmon Young 248 .289 .321 .405 .726 .116 4.25

TRIPLE-A G AVG OBP SLG OPS IsoP K/BB

Billy Butler 61 .295 .411 .535 .946 .240 0.75

Delmon Young 138 .304 .326 .463 .789 .159 5.16

Their numbers this season are eerily similar, while Butler holds a slight advantage in career MLB stats that includes a 23-point edge in OPS and far superior strikeout-to-walk ratio. Butler was far better than Young at Triple-A, topping him by 157 points of OPS, showing 50 percent more power, and walking more times than he struck out while Young whiffed five times for every free pass. Despite all of that, Butler finds himself back in the Pacific Coast League while Young gets a chance to turn things around.

Player A-D Update

A little update on Player A - Player D:

Then
AVG OBP SLG AB
Player A - .258 .319 .328 198
Player B - .252 .293 .413 155
Player C - .229 .294 .307 140
Player D- .234 .287 .468 94

Now
AVG OBP SLG AB
Player A - .273 .329 .356 216
Player B - .238 .285 .384 172
Player C - .258 .313 .362 163
Player D- .238 .294 .455 101

Still issues with all 4, but offensively Player A seems to outshine the rest - especially if he takes form. Defensively however, I think he needs to go to a clinic to learn to catch and play balls.

None the less - boys are on a roll, and only a half game out of first - and not even close to playing to their full potential. Think how scary this team can be if Young, Cuddyer, Kubel, Lamb...etc start hitting the ball, and Liriano, Slowey, Baker,....etc start pitching well.

Game 12 recap

Game #12

CROWS 22
Big Sticks 24

With Game number one of the doubleheader against team Big Sticks being a pitchers duel, game number two will be classified as an old western shootout. The Crows, playing without their lead-off hitter or their starting left side of the infield, fought valiantly to rally in the seventh only to come up two runs short of tying the game, giving them their third loss of the season. Bright spots for the Crows were Jason "Zog" Herzog , who went 3-5, 3R, and 2 RBIs, and "The Human Hitting Machine" Mark "Hegs" Jeglosky continued to show why he is considered the most dominant hitter in the league going 4-4, 5R, 3RBIs, 2 2Bs, BB. Stealing the game ball, however, was Crow rookie sensation D.J. "Brocko" Brockman who set single game records for RBIs in a game (8) and hits in a game (5).

Game Ball- D.J. Brockman
5-5, 2R, 8 RBIs, 2B, HR
Team record- RBIs (8)
team record- 5 hits.
