I agree Brocko, if it was gonna go down it would have already happened like last year when Torii was pleading to the media and fans that he wanted to sign a long term in Mn, sometimes negotiations can get silly, this is the case here. Smith is gonna get hated on pretty hard here in the next few years and eventually he will wear down just like TR, now Torii's playing the card its not about the money, he wants to play on a team that is committed to winning a championship and a team who understands in today's game to a certain degree you gotta pay to play, I love how the Twins role but now would be a great time to spend some cash and make a serious 3-5 year championship run, honestly would you give Torii a 5 year deal, thats the ugly truth here 3 year deal sure but 5 - cmon man, he'll sign 3 years elsewhere - redsox could sure use em eh.; October 25, 2007 at 6:01 PM
