Beane sees the Angels are going to be stacked, and it's going to take a miracle for him to compete, so he sells off his desirable parts for a haul. Billy Smith has to follow suit if he deems we can't compete. Granted, he has to deal with Ryan's more conservative decisions first, but once those are taken care of, he has to take an aggressive approach. Sometimes he'll fail, and that's ok.
