It would be nice to banish him to the NL as opposed to the Yanks and Sox, even if we have to take slightly less.

Here's the problem that I see with this. If they get what they want from the Mets, we will wait a 2-4 years for these prospects to develop. By then, Liriano, Mourneau, Cuddy, and may be to the point where the Twins will not be able to afford them. Then the cycle starts all over.

Agreed. Sooner or later we have to pay for our stars. What we need to do is go the Oakland route. Beane sees the Angels are going to be stacked, and it's going to take a miracle for him to compete, so he sells off his desirable parts for a haul. Billy Smith has to follow suit if he deems we can't compete. Granted, he has to deal with Ryan's more conservative decisions first, but once those are taken care of, he has to take an aggressive approach. Sometimes he'll fail, and that's ok. It's better to gamble and make a run than be stuck in middle forever.
