Is Gardy finally getting it?!?!?!
Twins outfielder Jason Kubel was 0-for-3 against Oakland lefty Greg Smith but has looked so comfortable against lefties lately that Gardenhire is ready to give him the same status as the M & M boys.
"I don't worry about who he's facing anymore,'' Gardenhire said of Kubel, who is hitting .222 against lefties versus .281 against righties. "They can bring in whatever lefties they want to [against] him, Mauer, Morneau. I'm just not going to hit for him.''

If Cuddy comes back as the same Cuddyer, and Kubel can have a breakout year, think of our lineup - this is what I would have if I was Gardy and the playoffs were starting:
1. CF Gomez
2. SS Tolbert
3. C Mauer
4. 1B Morneau
5. RF Cuddyer
6. LF Young
7. DH Kubel
8. 2B Harris
9. 3B Lamb
That is not a bad lineup. Now, can the pitching keep us in the game?!
I would go like this:
1. 2b Harris
2. C Mauer
3. LF Young
4. 1B Morneau
5. RF Cuddyer
6. DH Kubel
7. SS Tolbert
8. 3B Buscher
9. CF Gomez
Gomez needs to make more contact and take pitches. Until then, he can't be your table setter. He can be your second leadoff.
Yeah, I have to give you props again, Arkansas, i thought Kubel was garbage until this year, now i find myself having a certain confidence when he comes up to the plate, you called it, Ark! They say it takes a full year+ to come back from major knee surgery, Kubs had that (right?). Maybe we are about to reap the rewards of the Twins former minor league player of the year. On another note, I am sure it was just a brain fart by Zog and Ark- but you both had Mauer in your line-ups, did you forget we have Redmond?
Redmond and Mauer can split time.
Did type in Mauer - my bad, you know what I meant.
Gomez still needs to be leading off - he will come around - and when a walk can turn into a leadoff double - that is how we need to start games!
Watch out Ricky, if this guy can start hitting the ball hard, that leadoff HR record could be in jeapardy.
C'mon Zog, Rickey hit 81 lead off homers, don't call us when you are in our universe, call us when you are on our street.
