I know you guys are all jumping on the Kubel wagon, but these offensive stats are somewhat offensive, if you catch my drift. Not exactly DH worthy stats. I hope he can pick it up, otherwise we are looking at another typical Kubel year - lots of hype, a few big bombs, but utlimately a waste of a DH.

Kubel!
Kubel!!
Kubel!!!
Kubel, Kubel, Kubel, Kubel!!
Look at the sample size...nothing to worry about. He was an awesome hitter before his knee injury, he hasn't had a full season at the plate since. Give the guy a chance.
I suppose we should give up on this player as well...

So you want to compare Kubel to Ortiz? Kubel has yet to prove he can play for an entire year - not even any realy glimpses. He gets hot for a week, hits some key HR's, and then goes back to his 0-4, 1-4 routine.
Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE him to turn into a .280 25 HR guy, but until he starts getting consistent, he is not the answer.
We don't know what Kubel is yet because we have never given him a full year. Give him a full year and leave him be. He'll produce.
Big Papi was the same way, then we gave him away and he became a monster
However - you can only give a guy so much time. Here is his full year - and he is still at .245. I am cheering for him, and want him to produce - but we have not had a good DH for years now - and if we would have had one in any of our playoff appearances, we would have gone a lot further.
Maybe get Bonds if Kubel is not producing be All Star break!
My point exactly.
Give him the rest of this year. If he doesn't produce, then do something.
We aren't doing anything this year anyway. Even though we are in first, we aren't in the same class as the Angels and Red Sox. We play them 10 times, we win 2, max.
