B-Smith haters

See, this is why we couldn't keep him.
Even a team like the Mets are balking at his requests...

hmmmm....Lohse or Santana? Maybe Smith could bring back Lohsey. Oh wait, he and Gardy hate each other. That's right. However, he is mediocre enough to be on the Twins roster.

Smith needs to figure out which of his prospect pitchers to keep, and which to trade away

Don't get fired up quite yet. Santana had to go - Smith's only problem was waiting too long, and not taking the Yankees offer, which was the best on the table. It is over now, and we need to move forward. We should have traded Hunter before the deadline last year too - so we could have gotten SOMETHING for him.

We have Morneau long term, Mauer, Cuddy, and now Delmon Young, things are okay. Baker is fine, Slowy will be okay, our pitching has potential, but time will tell. We also have some cash to go try to find a free agent out there. Maybe Brocko can lace 'em up for one more run!

Agreed on waiting too long....but that is hindsight. If he would've taken that offer when it was first there, we would have been saying *that's all you got for the best pitcher in baseball?*. Turns out, that would've been pretty sweet. Who would've thought the Yankees would show fiscal restraint.

We'll be ok. I like that we have Young...finally a hitter with some promise. We have a surplus of pitching prospects that we can trade for more guns down the road. Besides, Detroit looks pretty damn tough this year with Miggy and Willis. Perhaps we are better off gathering assets and making a run in 09...
