Dear Mr. Favre.....

My favorite team is going to sign Brett Favre in the coming days, or weeks, or months, or however long it takes that fucking asshole to milk the publicity machine to his satisfaction. It’s fitting that it would come this. For years and years, I have fucking hated Brett Favre with every fiber of my being. He is the single most self-promoting piece of shit who ever walked the Earth, the most phony human being this side of Alex Rodreguiez. Everything about Favre – from his style of play to his everyman image - is complete bullshit, and everything about the man is tiresome, to the point where bitching about him being tiresome has become even more tiresome. Not only am I sick of this dipshit, but I'm sick of being sick of him. I have always argued that pro athletes should play their sports as long as they want, because it's still a kickass job . So I don't want to take away his right to play football, even if it’s for the Vikings. What I do hate is the fact that this asshole NEVER WANTED TO FUCKING STOP PLAYING TO BEGIN WITH. He knew the second he rererereretired earlier this year that he'd try and get his release so he could play in here. This Bull-shit by Peter King that, "I don’t think even Brett Favre knows what Brett Favre is going to do" is the most insulting pile of shit I've ever heard. That fuck knows exactly what the fuck he's doing, and anyone who says otherwise probably spends all day licking radiators. Make no mistake, it won't be the final piece in some kind of championship puzzle. It'll be the nothing more than the final nail in the coffin for Brad Childress. It'll be the last act of a desperate coach who has spent the past three years wasting a talented roster with unimaginative schemes and the complete failure to produce anything of note at the quarterback position. This asshole had three fucking years to groom a QB for this team. Three. A fucking lifetime in NFL years.Instead, he insisted he could develop Tarvaris Jackson, who can play the position somewhat decently only when there is nothing important to play for. The Vikings could have made any number of moves in recent years to give Jackson competition, or to outright replace him. They had a chance to trade for Matt Schaub. They had a chance to draft some QBs. They could have traded for Jay Cutler. Or signed Jeff George. Instead, they did nothing until trading for Sage Rosenfels. And now, only now, after time and again fucking up the QB situation, does Childress feel compelled to upgrade the position. And how is he going about it? By acquiring an erratic 40-year-old pill popping, drunk, with half a bicep. Hey shitbox, you already have an erratic journeyman on the roster. Do we really need fucking more?I’ve heard arguments in the media that Favre will at least make the coming season more interesting. Well, you know what? I don’t want my team to be fucking interesting. I want my team to fucking WIN. I've seen this team do the "interesting" things before, with Hershall Walker and Randy Moss and all that shit. But ultimately, it ended up going to shit. Interesting teams don't win it all in the NFL anymore. If you want to win a Super Bowl, you’re better off being the most boring fucking team alive. The Steelers. They change coaches once every two decades. They never sign big name free agents, They don’t do any of that shit. They keep things running smoothly, and then they go win titles. And they don't sign players I fucking despise. And the biggest dagger of all in this whole shitshow. That the hatred I have of Brett Favre is part of who I am. It’s ingrained in me. When I die, my body will turn into nothing but ash. But, even then, I assure you I’ll still find a way to fucking hate Brett Favre. And now, as a final, personal FUCK YOU to every Viking fan like me, that fuckface is now going to make it so I have to root for him. I actually have to cheer when he goes and does something good. And that makes me hate his fucking guts all the more. Because now I’m supposed to buy into all his bullshit. That fucking fuck.Well, fine. If that’s the way it has to be, then so be it. I’ll root for you in a Vikings uniform, Favre. But just know that I will hate every goddamn minute of it. Just know that I will fucking hunt you down with your goddamn red necked bow if you end up fucking us in the end. Just know that your new head coach is an incompetent, dumb fuck who couldn't place an order at a McDonalds. Just know all that before you come here. You fucking low life piece of shit. Oh, I’ll cheer you on, you fucking Hollywood redneck hillbilly. I’ll pull for you every step of the way, Mr. Wrangler... you absolute disgrace. I’ll cherish your three good games a year that make Madden flood his pants.I’ll do all that that. But I’ll never stop hating you.

Coach and Pipp take Bass tiltle!

Last Saturday was the first annual "Bro's and Crow's" summer party hosted by long time Crow Jason Kelly and his lovely wife Jessica. Events included a small mouth bass fishing tourney in the morning followed by yard games, grilling, water sports and the Crows favorite past time, ICE COLD BEERS! The Bass tournament took place at 9 am, teams as follows: Adam Bancroft, Jeff Hackel, and Jon Emerick; Jason Anderson and Jason Keuhne; Jason and Joe Kelly with the man with the sweet beard- Reid Tower; and last but certainly not least Joe "Pipp" Hoffman and Coach Nolan. The waters were rough at times, and the sun was HOT and the fish few and far between. three boats were sitting with one fish a piece with 20 minutes remaining on the clock, looking like it was going to come down to size between the 14 incher that Joe Hoffman pulled and the undisclosed fish Mr. Bancroft snagged and what ever Keuhne and Anderson were hiding. They say you are supposed to define the moment and not let the moment define you... and that is exactly what the Coach of the greatest franchise in the history of sports did, you guessed it, coach Nolan pulled in a 13 incher to seal the deal and make Joe Hoffman and Billy Nolan the first annual "Crow's and Bro's" Bass masters. Following the fishing tournament the boating and grilling began at the Crows grill masters pad , Keith Kelly, who was out of town and couldn't be with us but his hospitallity was greatly appreciated. The boating was highlighted when Crows left fielder Mark Jeglosky wiped out on the tube with his sons Will "The Thrill" and Super Joey causing Super Joey to float away and fend for himself (only for a second and he handled like you would think he would) and the Thrills (old) glasses are now being worn buy some bass in the bottom of the Mississippi. The night was then topped off, as every summer party should with a Bonn fire. Other dignitaries to attend were "Fightin" Frank Asleson and his son and daughter, Trevor Pearson with his son, The Kellys- Joe (wife Timmi and kids), Jessica (sister Crystal, daughters Morgan, Cece, and Brynn), Carey "Lipps" Ledoux, Jeff Hackel, and plenty more. Thank you to the Kelly family for putting a great event and thanks again for all the hospitality. And Thanks Jay for buying 40 lbs of ice and forgetting it in the back of the Blazer!

Amish Man Arrested for Defamation

*Anonymous source reporting...
Two days after the Young Crows swept the Fightling Amish a man in his mid 40’s, in an attempt to make Crow’s long time outfielder Bernie Knox look bad hacked his way into the Crow Website and issued a statement. Defamy is the communication of a statement that makes a claim, expressly stated or implied to be factual, that may give an individual, business, product, group, government or nation a negative image.
In a four paragraph letter, Jeb Jacob, long time Fighting Amish Fan made slanderous comments about the Crows Organization as if the message came from Bernie himself. The letter claimed Bernie had been mis-treated by the Crows front office and because of this he had decided to retire from the game and organization that has helped him acheice great status in the nations favorite past time.
The Crow’s Executive Committee felt obligated to release a statement in defense of the organization, claiming they have been nothing but fair in their dealings with long time player Bernie Knox. The tip that this was not from Bernie himself was the signing of the letter, #26, nothing more than Bernie’s number from the back of his jersey.
We at KARE11 have tried to contact Bernie several times throughout the day through his agent but have been unable to reach him for a statement. In a press release earlier this afternoon Knox’s agent simply said, “Bernie is aware of the issue and is happy the individual responsible is being detained and hopefully charged. When asked what his position is with the Crow’s, Knox’s agent simply shrugged and said, “ The same it has always been, Once a Crow always a Crow”. When asked if there were any truth to the rumors of Bernie retiring from the Crow’s, Knox’s agent stated, There is no truth to this outlandish rumor, Bernie has been working hard to get his personal life on track in order to return to the ball club on July 1, 2009. Bernie has nothing but the utmost respect for every individual within this organization and would never do anything to jeopordize that relationsihp. When asked if Bernie was upset with what has transpired, the answer was clear, “Bernie is grateful for the opportunities this club has given him and he is outraged that this type of story could hit the airwaves and cause any harm or distruption to the Crow’s Ball Club.”
Investigation to Bernie Knox Imposter.....
The Crows Executive Committee is reaching out to Bernie Knox, and the entire Crow Nation family to find, and persecute the Bernie Knox imposter who has posted a comment on our website. We do not take this lightly and will set an example if we can. At the bottom of this post, you can see the imposters post in full. Due to the serious allegations in this letter, we will also use this time to dispute and respond on any comments in that post, as we feel that we owe that to our fans, players, children, 3rd and 4th generation Crows, Old Crows, and the Crow Nation in general.
"I write this letter with a heavy heart, as I am sad to announce that I am officially retiring from The Young Crow Organization."
This one I am sure the fans were upset about. However, proof that this is not the case, is that the Executive Committee knows #26 personally, and never would a statement like this come out in an "annonymous" post. He would at least hold a press conference.
"Over the last two weeks I have made several attempts to reach management to discuss my reinstatement and my messages have fallen on deaf ears."
Again, this is not the way #26 would approach this situation. The EC admits they received ONE phone call, and in that message, Bernie asked for an excused leave of absence due to family time and obligations, and asked to be reinstated full time starting July 1. The EC has been off in Executive meetings over the last 2 months, discussing financing, new stadium talks, fan base, promotions, uniforms, player personel....etc. As a matter of fact, proof that the EC is always working,is the recent signing of Pudge Leebens toa 30 year contract. Only the Crow organization can land a player of this caliber mid season.
"I will use the remainder of this season as time to think about my next steps, as I am unsure if I want to retire completely from the game I love."
Obviously this is false, as with Bernie's 30 year contract, his only choices are to play with Crows, or be given a role within the organization. The EC would not allow a player of this caliber to retire. Not to mention, we continue to hold the rights to any and all offspring of the Knox family.
"I am a little upset with how my future with this team played out."
Of course the EC would be upset with this comment, IF it had really come from #26. They would find it hard to believe #26 would be upset with how the EC dealt with him, as they have always bent over backwards for him. As they do with all players who earn this type of respect, #26 has been allowed to take approved leaves of absence over the last 3 years, due to personal, family, and child committments, and have always allowed him to show up and play whenever he could. Not many players have been given this option. As a matter of fact, in 2009, he asked to be a sub, which was granted, then asked to come back full time, which was granted, then asked to take June off, which was granted, and then asked to come back full time July 1, which was granted, just not officially yet. The EC is proud of the way the are able to put a competitive team on the field each week, balancing palyers personel lives with that of the team, trying not to field too many or too few players each week, while keeping the talent level at an all time high.
"Somewhere, in management’s eyes, the game has passed me by and younger talent has taken my place. I always committed myself to the game and vowed I would walk away when my play no longer added value to the team. And now, just as I'm really hitting my stride, I have to stop!"
This one almost made the EC laugh,.....how could #26 write this one - when he continues to get an open door to come and go however he wants, balancing his family life with his Crows committment. Not only is he able to "play when he wants to play", but Coach Nolan continues to bat him in the top of the order, and start him in the field when he shows, even if he only shows here and there. Thus bumping other quality players who show up EVERY week. Due to #26's history, class, and respect that he has earned over the years, Coach Nolan obviously believes the same way the EC believes, that #26 is as good as any on this team, which is full of hall of famers and all stars.
Please help the EC in finding the imposter who wrote this article. We are eagerly awaiting a response from #26 as well, to help dispell any of these statements. We were concerned since the statements had some information in them that only Bernie - or someone close to Crow Nation - would know, that we needed to clear things up.
As always, the EC looks forward to hearing from #26, hopefully asking for a formal full time reinstatment at July 1, or whatever date works for him.
Also, Coach Nolan continues to deal with all game time decisions. This includes playing time, batting order, and of course discipline. We back Coach Nolan 100%, and any decisions made by him are final. We at the EC may help determine who is on the 20 man roster, but who actually makes a lineup is a decision for Coach Nolan, which is why he was hired to this postions, and continues to excel at. We expect Coach Nolan to respond to this matter as well - and are a little upset he has to take time out of his personal time, when he should be putting together a game plan.
Imposter article in full:
It was 18 years ago, in this very city, that I signed my first big league contract. I couldn't even begin to tell you how much things have changed since then. On the other hand, though, I can tell you that it really doesn't seem all that long ago. I write this letter with a heavy heart, as I am sad to announce that I am officially retiring from The Young Crow Organization. Over the last two weeks I have made several attempts to reach management to discuss my reinstatement and my messages have fallen on deaf ears. I will use the remainder of this season as time to think about my next steps, as I am unsure if I want to retire completely from the game I love. Right now I'm looking forward to the start of my new life, and thinking about what I should be doing to make the most of it all. Just precisely what that will be, I don't know yet, but I do know that whatever I'll be doing, I'll be doing my best to make it as enjoyable as possible.I leave this fine organization with little regret, as I have had the privilege of playing with the best group of guys in the game. I have been treated fairly, yet I am a little upset with how my future with this team played out. I have given my all to help this team achieve great success and I feel proud of the Championships we have given to this great fan base. Somewhere, in management’s eyes, the game has passed me by and younger talent has taken my place. I always committed myself to the game and vowed I would walk away when my play no longer added value to the team. And now, just as I'm really hitting my stride, I have to stop! I wish my teammates well as the talent on the field shows great promise. My journey, at least with this team has come to an end, there is a void that I will need to fill. As I close this door to my storied career with The Young Crows, I search for another to open. Time will heal all wounds and a new day will bring new opportunity. Thanks and goodbye….#26

Young = crap
Lifted from Gleeman (aarongleeman.com):
....Gomez offsets some of his terrible hitting with an excellent glove, but Delmon Young has been useless on both sides of the ball. In fact, at 12.2 runs below replacement level offensively and defensively he's been the single worst all-around player in the AL through two months. Young has hit .239/.282/.275 in 117 plate appearances, which is good for a .557 OPS. No other corner outfielder in the league with that much playing time has an OPS below .640.Not only has Young failed to make any significant strides at the plate for the third straight season, he's actually regressed from last year's poor performance. Young was one of the most undisciplined hitters in baseball last season, but this time around he's struck out twice as often while drawing even fewer walks. Beyond that his power has gone from bad to non-existent as he's managed just one homer and one double in 109 at-bats while once again ranking among the AL leaders in ground-ball percentage.Believe it or not, being the AL's worst-hitting outfielder only scratches the surface of Young's awfulness because he plays an offense-driven position that's home to many big bats and complements his lack of production at the plate with horrendous defense in left field. On a per-inning basis Young has been the second-worst corner outfielder in the league defensively behind only Jose Guillen and since joining the Twins last year Ultimate Zone Rating has him 23.1 runs below average on defense alone.

Crows add top 2 Free Agents - Leebens and Perigran

AP May 27, 2009 Coon Rapids, MN
LEEBENS and PERIGRAN SIGN
The Crows franchise has officially landed the top 2 free agents of the 2009 softball season by officially signing both Shawn Leebens, and Jim Perigran to 30 year contracts.
Both Leebens and Perigran were on unoffical 12 game tryouts with the team this year. After an 8-4 start, and solid play by both players, the Crows have officially named them to their 15 man roster, and signed them (along with any offspring), to the Crows family.
"I could not be any happier" Coach Nolan was quoted after the news became official. "Leebens and Perigran are two of the best softball players in the world, and to be able to add them into our lineup on a weekly basis, only helps my coaching status, it is hard to lose when the organization keeps adding solid players year after year".
Nolan was referring to the string of Rookie of the Year award winners that the Crow Organization has put together, and the best yearly recruiting class in the country:
2009 - Shawn Leebens / Jimmy Perigran
2008 - DJ Brocko Brockman
2007 - Mark Jeglosky / Kyle Duche Christenson / Jim Bama Sorenson
2005 - Dave Arkansas Sorenson / Adam Bancroft
Currently in 2009, Leebens is hitting an unbelievable .731, pitching fantasticly, and able to fill in defensively wherever coach Nolan needs him, 3B, 1B, P, C, OF.....
Perigran is hitting at .636 and potentially looking at defensive player of the year, especially after roaming around CF last night, when the Crows were so confident, they only suited up 8 players.
The usually quiet and reserved Executive Committee for the Crows franchised released the following statement to ESPN:
"The Crows franchise has officially signed Leebens and Perigran, so all the other teams in Coon Rapids - you can kiss our @ss. We are the premier softball franchise, and will continue to recruit and sign the best players on the market. These two players not only make our lineup that much better, but they are going to put continued pressure on all existing players to perform, or "willingly" retire.....We have an Ax Man, who is good at helping players decide to retire by using a very powerful email approach, and we will not be afraid to use him if necessary. With Leebens, Perigran, and Coach Nolan, along with the rest of the players on this team, we expect another 25-0 season, and at least one title."

Week #1- Gameday speech

Good day Crow Nation. What an amazing day to be a Crow. Opening day is perfect, we all know all the cliches- "Every team is undefeated on opening day" , "A fresh start", and so on... CUT THE CRAP! WE HAVE ALL BEEN LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS GAME SINCE WE GOT SCREWED IN THAT FALL CHAMPIONSHIP LAST YEAR! People can laugh and throw the asterisk on their but somebody is going to pay for that, Crows, and its going to be the rest of the teams in this league. We are defending champions, so we are going to get everyone's best night in and night out, we wouldn't have it any other way. I, along with other members of the Crow nation, have felt like nothing has been going our way lately. This season, the ball field is going to be all our sanctuaries, a place where things do nothing but go are way, a place where we achieve perfection, that's right! This year the plaques will ring true. Now tonight, we are a little short handed, missing a couple guys on opening day is not the way I wanted to start the season but we understand that duty calls, so we are going at it with the iron 10. Ten guys who have all been through the wars together and are extremely battle tested together as well. Bad news for the United Products II squad we play tonight. In closing Crows, get a solid lunch in you around noon today, a few beers in you before the game (preferably at headquarters, I'm thinking 3pm i will be there) and we will play the drinking at the field by ear and show up and do what the Crows do! How sweet would this be!
The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that talks between the Minnesota Vikings and Denver Broncos continued on Monday, and the topic of these talks was a potential trade for quarterback Jay Cutler.
Cutler would be a huge upgrade over any of the players that are slated to compete for the Vikings' starting job and according to the paper, the Vikings first asked about Cutler at the NFL combine in February. In the time since, Minnesota traded a fourth round draft pick to the Houston Texans for Sage Rosenfels. Asked at the press conference to introduce Rosenfels whether the team would also acquire an elite quarterback this offseason, coach Brad Childress told the Star Tribune, "Don't know, I'm not clairvoyant."
A trade for Cutler would not be cheap for Minnesota. For starters, the Vikings would likely have to part ways with this year's first-round draft pick (No. 22 overall), and then supplement that pick with other draft picks or veterans. Denver is also likely seeking some semblance of a quarterback in return, seeing as Cutler's 2008 backup, Patrick Ramsey, is currently an unrestricted free agent.

While we eagerly await Spring training invites and have visions of what the 2009 Crows roster and lineups will look like, take time to view an all-time movie lineup:

Prospects
For those who care about how Minor Leaguers are projected (Mr Tell), Gleeman is breaking down his Twins top 40 prospects. What's particularily interesting is today there are a couple pitchers that came over in the Johan trade last year and what their respective futures may hold.

Daily Twins
Here's the daily Twins report....I'm glad we didn't get Wigginton.
It'd be nice to get Beltre, but only at a low trade price.

HOF
The Twins finally elected a long overdue Brad Radke to the Twins HOF.
Who can forget the first innings where he didn't give up any runs...you know, those 3 games way back. Yeah, good times.
http://blogs2.startribune.com/blogs/christensen/2009/01/23/radke-brophy-elected-to-twins-hall-of-fame/
Also, looks like Mauer has kidney troubles. Don't you get those when you're old?!?!? I guess catching takes a lot out of a dude.

Nice Work BS
Nice work BS.
Good job locking up Kubs. I would have prefered buying out a year or two of free agency as well, but well done anyway.

No Crows?!?!?
Breaking news...a crack staff reporter at WCAW has this scoop:
Continuing a negative trend, the Twins once again failed to invite any members of the Crows to Spring Training. (The list of invitees is here : http://blogs2.startribune.com/blogs/neal/2009/01/14/twins-invite-15-non-roster-players-to-camp/) How will the EC respond to such a blatant disregard for the quality ball players the EC employees? Perhaps it was contract related and the EC's posting fees were too high. Perhaps the EC values their players and won't let them go at any price.
The crack staff reporter attempted to contact the EC, but his calls were not returned.
We will await an official statement from the YC Organization.

Hello
Figured I'd check in for 2009 and see who still frequents the blog....
Pitchers and Catchers report in a little less than a month, so I hope Banny and JKelly are ready to defend our titles this year.
I think it's time for the EC to post a list of players invited to Spring Training 2009....then we can speculate on who will make the roster, who has promise, what good young talent we can expect to see down the road....

Vikings/Eagles Matchup
Just read a good line regarding the Vikings Eagles matchup this weekend:
** Philly's Andy Reid will be battling former assistant Brad Childress on Sunday in a matchup Peter King described as "teacher vs. pupil." Teacher versus pupil???? That explains everything! Do you think Reid tutored Childress in classes like "Screwing Up a Two-Minute Drill," "Hanging Your QB Out to Dry," "Dumb and Possibly Damaging Field-Goal Attempts," "Idiotic Short-Yardage Calls," "Special Teams Collapses," "How To Blow Your Challenges," "Leaving Yourself With No Timeouts" and "How To Remain Calm As You're Getting Booed By Your Own Fans"?
